FSPA Faculty Concert Series
09/27/2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Dr. Eduardo Farias, Trumpet
Join us for ‘Americas’, a delightful evening of live music performed by FSPA faculty member Dr. Eduardo Farias, Trumpet.
We asked Eduardo why he chose the title ‘Americas’…
“The name was chosen to challenge the US view of this country as a continent (we in Brazil learn that America is the whole mass of land that was politically divided into South, Central, and North America).
Also, I have divided the program into two almost exact halves: One with US-American music, one with Brazil-American music. There is a French piece starting the program, but it is a super short one.”
Air de Bravoure - André Jolivet
Totem Voices - Catherine McMichael
Spitfire for trumpet and string quartet - James Stephenson
In Fluência for solo flugelhorn - Gilson Santos (US premiere)
Cinco Sambinhas - Jamberê Cerqueira (US premiere)
Suíte Recife - José Ursicino da Silva
This concert is FREE and open to the public and will be held at the Flint Institute of Music’s MacArthur Recital Hall. Doors open at 6:30pm. Seating is limited. A dessert reception, generously provided by Allegro, follows the concert.
Sponsored by: Howard and Rita Shand - Thank You!
