Critical Issues Forum: Baron Batch
04/11/2018 @ 11:30 am
Baron Batch, a former running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, describes himself as a community facilitator, conceptual multimedia artist, and entrepreneur based out of Homestead, PA. He earned his initial popularity through street art and uses the moniker “The Artist.” During the summer of 2016, he completed 10 mural installations throughout the Pittsburgh area. That same summer an arrest warrant was issued for him on numerous counts of criminal mischief involving graffiti. Batch admitted to painting along the riverfront bike trail from Hot Metal Bridge to Homestead. He believes “sometimes great artists paint on things they aren’t supposed to.” In the fall of 2016, he opened a creative arts incubator called The Hideout to support artists and like-minded creatives with a platform that empowers individuals to implement business and artistic strategies in the Pittsburgh community.
